Sustainable buildings are water and energy efficient, minimise waste and are designed for safety and security. Houses properly suited to climatic conditions can conserve water and energy, be more comfortable and healthy to live in and lower operating costs for occupants.
There is great potential to incorporate environmental sustainability into the way we design, build and adapt dwellings. The introduction of BASIX has encouraged designing our homes, where economically viable with features and designs that save water and energy and reduce running costs. At Firstyle we are aware of the Goals set by the NSW state government, which is summarised below.
Our design review process, constantly considers sustainability initiatives and how the use of new materials reduces the impact on the carbon foot print. Wherever possible we source our material from local suppliers thus reducing the movement of materials over great distance. This is further enhanced by the use of local contractors where practical.
